From the mouth of the beast itself

I first used ChatGPT back in November 2022 when it just came out.

At the time I just happened to be doing research on AI article writers that had been around for a while — Copy.ai, WriteSonic and Jasper — because I was looking into how they could help me be more efficient in writing (long stort short, I found AI writers can definitely help but they have difficulty sounding ‘natural’ or conversational).

ChatGPT blew me away. It was just as good as the paid services, and in some instances better, but it was entirely free to use (for now). Uh-oh, I thought to myself, this’ll be big, but even I wasn’t expecting the AI arms-race that ensued over the course of the three short months that followed.

Microsoft bought OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT for $10billion(!!), much to the dismay of Google who recently purchased AI company Anthropic for $300m. Apple, Meta, Amazon and Nvidia have also invested into AI, so clearly this is a sign of things to come.

Now everyone knows about ChatGPT, which means the writing jobs I could’ve gone for before November now know how good AI writing is and how much more content a writer can push out using it. Buzzfeed came out and said they’d use ChatGPT
